Beauty Myths Explained

I've heard so many stories about different beauty treatments or things we do that have a certain effect on our bodies. Through which I decided to research online and take the knowledge from some things I've experienced to determine whether these are myths or facts!

1. Chocolate and sweets cause breakouts.

Neglecting your skin by constantly having a poor diet can definitely have a big impact on your skin, but this isn't to be mistaken with just eating chocolate. Chocolate surely won't cause you any break-outs.

2. Shaving makes hair grow back thicker.

Shaving hair does not cause your hair to grow back thicker. Shaving doesn't have an effect on the thickness of your hair. Although if you're experiencing a prickly, stubbly feeling when you shave, it's just the razor cutting the hair straight across the shaft which causes the hair follicle to feel alot stiffer.

3. More gray hairs will grow back if you pluck one

You simply can't instantly grow 10 new gray hair follicles from plucking one. I decided to include this myth because I hear plenty of people talking about it all the time! If you're bothered about gray hair appearing, I'd suggest you visit your hairdresser to colour it for you.

4. Your phone can cause you to break out.

Using your phone doesn't exactly cause you to break out however it can have an effect on your skin if you don't clean off your screen regularly, as germs can gradually build up on your screen!

5. Drinking water can keep your skin from drying out

Many people have dry skin and they drink plenty of water a day. Surely drinking water will make your skin appear healthy and hydrated, but on the other hand it can't completely prevent you from your skin drying.

6. Constantly washing your face can get rid of acne.

This is a huge myth. Washing your face too frequently throughout the day can cause your skin's natural PH balance to change as you'll be stripping away your skin's natural oils. Stick to washing your face day and night, but also ensuring that you really give a deep, thorough cleanse!

7. Toothpaste can get rid of a zit.

This DEFINITELY worked with me! I do this everytime one appears on my face and it goes away the night after.
Toothpaste contain ingredients that dry out the skin, which causes the drying of the spots. However this might not work for everyone.

8. Brushing hair 100 times a day can cause it to become shiny.

Brushing hair too many times a day can actually make your hair strands fall out instead of making your hair become shinier. To make your hair shinier you could always try out a great, effective DIY mask!

9. You don't need sunscreen on cloudy/dull days

The suns UV rays are always out, even if it's a really cool temperature. Through which you always need to protect your skin no matter what.

10. Sleeping on your back can prevent wrinkles

As we grow older our skins elasticity won't be as firm and we would gradually get wrinkles anyway. however certain sleep positions can result in sleep lines which could possibly turn into deep-set wrinkles.

You Are What You Eat - Healthy Eating and Vitamins For Glowing Skin and Hair

Beauty is not about only using products on the skin, hair and nails. It's also about taking good care of what's going on inside your body, which means taking in a lot of vitamins and minerals, therefore we have to ensure we maintain a healthy diet always! At the end of the day you are what you eat. Here are a few foods that will keep you glowing!

Blueberries

Antioxidants in blueberries are proven to prevent you from premature ageing of the skin.

Walnuts

Walnuts contain a good amount of omega 3 fatty acids, as well as being highly rich in biotin and Vitamin E which protects your hair from damaging.

Salmon

Salmon also contains omega 3 fatty acids and it tends to keep our skin moisturised, smooth and supple.

Oysters

I'm not a fan of oysters, but they are rich in Zinc. A lack of Zinc can cause hair loss! It also can lead to a dry, flaky scalp. Nuts, Beef and Eggs also contain Zinc.

Spinach

I love wide, bright and beautiful eyes! Spinach contains alot of lutein which is supposed to keep your eyes looking gorgeous and sparkly.

Tomatoes

Tomatoes are also a great anti-ageing antioxidant. Not only can you use them in meals, but you can also use them as a DIY facial. I've tried it and the results are fantastic.

Beetroot

Beetroot is particularly high in Vitamin A and it is proven to clear out the skin. This also contains Vitamin E, Magnesium, Calcium and much more. All these are essential for epidermal healing of your body.

Avocado

Avocado is a great source of vitamin E. This really does improve your skin tone and texture, as well as calming down inflammation on the skin.

There are plenty more of other foods that keep your body healthy and skin looking fabulous, this list of food is just a taster of the healthy foods that can really make a difference in your appearance.

WATER WATER WATER!!

We've all heard this rule before. 6-8 glasses of water should be drank daily to ensure our body remains healthy by cleaning out our toxins. This is also very beneficial for the hair, skin and nails. Water is all I drink, I hardly ever drink soda or juice and I get many questions on how I keep my skin clear and spot-free. I just drink plenty and plenty of water every single day and eat as healthy as I possibly can. If you don't like plain water you could try flavoured ones to get into the habit, that's how I started out!

Make-Up may keep us looking gorgeous on the outside, but bear in mind we need to take care of what's going on inside our bodies too! I hope this has helped you and thanks so much for reading.

Advanced Formula - Solutions Midnight Beauty Cream

When I brought this product I wasn't looking for anything in particular, but this Midnight Beauty Cream really caught my eye! Advanced Formula's cream promises to help even your skin tone and make your skin appear more radiant, along with a visibly brighter complexion by rejuvenating and energising the skin.

As I applied this to my face before I went to bed after cleansing and toning, it felt nourishing and velvety against my skin. The scent of this cream was very mild but smelt divine! It's always a pleasure to use on my face. It immediately makes my skin feel much more fresh and energised.
On the next morning, I noticed a HUGE HUGE difference. My complexion really did become 10 times brighter, I was amazed.

Overall I would certainly recommend this to absolutely anyone out there who suffers from dull skin, especially in the morning. Even after a long night or lack of sleep, with this Midnight Beauty Cream it will certainly ensure that you will look well rested for the following day!
I've had this product for months now and I haven't even past halfway, it's lasted me a very long time! Though I am definitely up to re-purchasing this over and over again! To have your hands on one of these visit Marks And Spencer. I'ts only £9.50 and it's totally worth it.

Review: Neutrogena Wave Power Cleanser

I've had one of the best experiences with this outstanding product, and I'm so excited to share this with you all!
When I got Neutrogena Wave it came with 14 deep clean foaming pads and an AA battery to place into the power cleanser. I've wanted to buy this product for so long but never got round to it, and now every time I use it I never regret the purchase.

On the power cleanser is an attachment head and a button to switch on the vibration. To use this product you simply add the foaming pad on to the attachment head and run under water, then turn on the power to give your skin a deep cleanse efficiently. On the back of the packaging it has alot of helpful instructions which I found very useful! The foaming pads are quite small but very effective!

Neutrogena claims that you'd receive softer skin after one use and I couldn't agree more!! The power cleanser felt so great against my skin and I could really feel it giving my skin the deep, thorough cleanse it needs! Although the foaming pads don't foam up straight away, they take a while to get foamy but it is totally worth it in the end!
I tend to keep the power cleanser on my face for roughly a few minutes, rinse off my face and then dispose the used foaming pad. There is always such a huge change within my skin once I've used this, I never get used to the fact that my face feels like a baby's skin!!

I would certainly recommend this to anyone out there, whether you have dry, normal, combination or oily skin. Neutrogena Wave gives you the deep cleanse that your skin needs and I LOVE it!

Garnier Self Heating Face Mask

I am a huge fan of face masks and I absolutely love using them to pamper myself. Through which I came across this Garnier face mask and was intrigued by it instantly.
Garnier's self heating sauna face mask comes in two packets of white clay. This formula is aimed to cleanse out blocked pores, as well as purifying the skin.

I mostly tend to use the self heating masks as I feel those are more effective for me, so I definitely considered trying this.
Although when I applied this mask, I hardly felt it heat up at all which I was really disappointed about. I did feel the mask slightly working on my skin but not as effectively the packaging made it out to be.
I'm also used to wearing my face masks for around 10-15 minutes, as that's what most face masks require to get the most out of the product. However I was rather shocked to know that I would only have to keep this one on for roughly 3 minutes. In my opinion, I didn't feel as though that was enough time due to not feeling the mask being effective enough on my skin. Though when I did rinse this off I saw a great change in my skin.. It appeared much more brighter, and my complexion was glowing!

On the back of the packaging it mentions that this face mask is meant to make your skin be shine free ad feel purified for the next 7 days. I would certainly say I agree with that as my skin feels much more rejuvenated and fresh, but only for a couple of days. Not up to 7 as it says on the packaging.

Overall I think this mask was a great product to try and it made a difference in my skin! But I don't think I would re-purchase as I like to buy masks that really bring the best out of my skin.

If you have any questions or comments please let me know in the comment box below!

Lancome Bi Facil - Eye Makeup Remover

Bi-Facil by Lancome is a non oily eye makeup remover that easy sweeps away all traces of your stubborn eye makeup. This is also suitable for people who may have sensitive skin, along with contact lens wearers.

I really love this eye makeup remover so much because it's certainly not greasy and doesn't irritate my skin either unlike some other removers. I think Lancome did a very good job with this because the skin around our eyes can be really delicate, though they've still managed to come out with a gentle formula that's so easy to work with! It can get quite hard to remove eye makeup especially if you're wearing waterproof mascara! However Bi-Facil tends to get on with the job quickly and perfectly. There are some eye makeup removers out there that don't take off everything leaving us with panda-like eyes!! But this product does the complete opposite and I adore this product so much! I have the 30ml sample size due to receiving it in a gift pack, however the standard size is much larger (125ml). And I'm guessing that must last really long as my mini size has lasted which almost feels like forever!

Bi-Facil is very simple and straight forward to apply, you first simply shake the bottle to activate the formula and dampen a cotton pad slightly, then allow it to rest on your eyes for a few seconds then very gently sweep them across. It really does help alot!!
Once this bottle starts running out I will definitely consider re-purchasing this! It does the job, with a bonus of working well with sensitive skin. I don't see where this product could possibly go wrong!

You can buy Lancome's Bi-Facil at Lancome ,Debenhams or House of Fraser for £21.

Fresh, Glowing Skin in 20 Minutes!

Almond Face Mask

Homemade facial masks are the best to use because they are so cheap and affordable! They're also easy to find in your kitchen cupboards!

I've recently tried a homemade face mask used with almonds and I'm thoroughly pleased with the results, so I thought I'd share it with you!
(You will only need 3-4 almonds, along with some milk.)

Firstly leave a few almonds to soak in milk for a few hours, then mash them so the mixture becomes more smooth and fine. Once that's done, apply it to your face and leave it for a whole night to allow your skin to absorb the vitamins and goodness. In the following morning wash your face with cold water and you're done!
This process is so easy and enjoyable to do, and not on only does it make your skin glow but it also removes all the dead skin cells and makes your skin become much more brighter and the surface of your skin feel smooth and silky, leaving you with a younger, fresher looking face!

If you're determined, you can use this daily for a fortnight to see OUTSTANDING results!
