Beauty Myths Explained

I've heard so many stories about different beauty treatments or things we do that have a certain effect on our bodies. Through which I decided to research online and take the knowledge from some things I've experienced to determine whether these are myths or facts!

1. Chocolate and sweets cause breakouts.

Neglecting your skin by constantly having a poor diet can definitely have a big impact on your skin, but this isn't to be mistaken with just eating chocolate. Chocolate surely won't cause you any break-outs.

2. Shaving makes hair grow back thicker.

Shaving hair does not cause your hair to grow back thicker. Shaving doesn't have an effect on the thickness of your hair. Although if you're experiencing a prickly, stubbly feeling when you shave, it's just the razor cutting the hair straight across the shaft which causes the hair follicle to feel alot stiffer.

3. More gray hairs will grow back if you pluck one

You simply can't instantly grow 10 new gray hair follicles from plucking one. I decided to include this myth because I hear plenty of people talking about it all the time! If you're bothered about gray hair appearing, I'd suggest you visit your hairdresser to colour it for you.

4. Your phone can cause you to break out.

Using your phone doesn't exactly cause you to break out however it can have an effect on your skin if you don't clean off your screen regularly, as germs can gradually build up on your screen!

5. Drinking water can keep your skin from drying out

Many people have dry skin and they drink plenty of water a day. Surely drinking water will make your skin appear healthy and hydrated, but on the other hand it can't completely prevent you from your skin drying.

6. Constantly washing your face can get rid of acne.

This is a huge myth. Washing your face too frequently throughout the day can cause your skin's natural PH balance to change as you'll be stripping away your skin's natural oils. Stick to washing your face day and night, but also ensuring that you really give a deep, thorough cleanse!

7. Toothpaste can get rid of a zit.

This DEFINITELY worked with me! I do this everytime one appears on my face and it goes away the night after.
Toothpaste contain ingredients that dry out the skin, which causes the drying of the spots. However this might not work for everyone.

8. Brushing hair 100 times a day can cause it to become shiny.

Brushing hair too many times a day can actually make your hair strands fall out instead of making your hair become shinier. To make your hair shinier you could always try out a great, effective DIY mask!

9. You don't need sunscreen on cloudy/dull days

The suns UV rays are always out, even if it's a really cool temperature. Through which you always need to protect your skin no matter what.

10. Sleeping on your back can prevent wrinkles

As we grow older our skins elasticity won't be as firm and we would gradually get wrinkles anyway. however certain sleep positions can result in sleep lines which could possibly turn into deep-set wrinkles.

Your Top 5 Facial Cleansing Mistakes

There are many common mistakes we make when it comes to facial care, and the things we do and put on our face can have a huge effect to the skin. Here are the top 5 mistakes a lot of people tend to do:

- Don't Exfoliate Too Much

Exfoliants are used to remove dead skin and make it appear much more smoother and brighter. Although too much of the acids and buffing agents can strip off and dry out your skin's layer. Unfortunately if this tends to carry on, your skin could eventually become weak and effect your skin's natural barrier.

- Choose The Right Cleanser

Cleansers should keep skin clean as well as keeping your skin healthy and at it's best. Therefore opt for a mild cleanser that removes dirt, oil and residue without leaving your skin feeling dry and irritated.

- Lukewarm Water

You should never use hot or very cold water when washing your face, it will only shock and irritate your skin. Instead try and use lukewarm water.

- Hands

Throughout the day our hands touch alot of things. Which means you should remember to wash your hands thoroughly before attempting to wash your face. This will try and avoid bacteria transferring onto your face.

- Be Delicate

When drying your face don't rub with your towel because your skin is really sensitive. Rubbing with towels could also lead to wrinkles. Therefore I'd think it's best to be as delicate as you can.

I really hope these tips have helped you! Please share this post and comment on your thoughts. Thank you for reading,

Review: Neutrogena Blackhead Eliminating Cleansing Lotion

I've been using Neutrogena for the last 5 years now and I'd definitely not consider looking into any another brand of skin care! In my opinion, Neutrogena is by far the best and works so well with my skin! I've recently brought their Visibly Clear Blackhead Eliminator and it works wonders!

This product is meant to be used daily to help prevent and get rid of blackheads. I've been using it every night for the past month now and I'm seeing amazing results, within days I could notice a difference!
I usually apply this with a cotton pad all over my face after cleansing and this definitely removes a ton more dirt than a makeup wipe! I always make sure I use this every night because it gets rid of all the oil and dirt possible on your face, preventing pores getting clogged!
I've also noticed that my face appears a lot brighter to!

I haven't found anything bad about this product because it works very well, lasts long and it so easy to use!
On a whole I'd definitely recommend this to any of you who are looking to achieve a clearer, brighter face, as well as preventing those horrible blackheads!

You can purchase Neutrogena Visibly Clear Blackhead Eliminator Cleansing Lotion at Boots, Asda or Superdrug for £3.99

REVIEW: Nivea Q10 Plus Anti-Wrinkle Energising Day Cream SPF 15

NEW Nivea Q10 Plus Anti-Wrinkle Energising Day Cream SPF 15

I  received a sample of this in a magazine, after  seeing the advertisements everywhere I was intrigued to find out how good the product works.
Throughout the day my face sometimes tends to get fairly dry, and I've always needed a moisturiser that would be an instant pick me up for my skin. So during the day I tried out the sample and it is GREAT!!
The moisturiser is not so strong in scent but it smells divine. The texture of this cream is very light, which makes it much easier to glide on. Once it's on your skin it instantly rejuvenates your face and brightens your complexion completely! What I  love about this product is that it's not greasy at all! A friend of mine also commented that once I applied it, my face rapidly looked more alive and radiant, which I love! It's as though my complexion was really glowing!
A benefit of this day cream is that it's an anti-wrinkle  SPF15 which prevents your skin from ageing. I am definitely into purchasing this in store, I adore this already!
You can buy this at Boots,Asda or Superdrug for around £9.99.

How to Prevent and Get Rid of Acne!

Neutrogena Visibly Clear Spot Stress Control - Hydrating spot treatment

I've recently purchased this treatment due to my skin having random breakouts, I was concerned about what to do about it, through which it lead me to this and I definitely don't regret getting this!
This formula is made to penetrate deep down and help clear away your spots, and in under a week of using it day and night after washing my face I could instantly see a change within my skin.

I am in love with this treatment, it feels so cool and smooth which glides easy along the skin. A bonus would be how rapid it dries too! After around 10 seconds of application, your skin absorbs this formula instantly, leaving it feeling fresh and rejuvenated! Although I do recommend using a very light moisturiser after applying this as it can leave your skin feeling fairly dry after a while.

If you're feeling insecure about acne and looking for a quick way to clear it up, I certainly recommend this, it really works!
You can buy this anywhere such as Asda, Boots or Superdrug for £4.99
